Computer games are hear to stay!

Soon a teenager Mum is concern about the time spent with computer games. Of all teenage  activities, none is as pervasive as gaming. Teens are hocked on different games and spend more time on computer games than doing other leisure time activities. Will this lead to health problems and how can the teens  find the golden way to be active and play games with their friends? Computer games can be educational too !

  2. Looking again at my almost teenagers sitting by their laptops playing computer games on the Web. Virtual pets, feeding them, buying food, new pets. Watching how their friends pets are doing. Are they into Social media already? But, but is the web the source for computer games especially for young teenagers? I decided to take another approach and look what the libraries have to offer. Starting with my home country the Helsinki state library had many games to offer, however I would have liked to see more advertisement, clearly grouped games for teenagers and kids. The issue with games as with films is the age recommendation that we parents not always bother to find out.Next I will proceed to see what Sweden have to offer games......

  3. Inspired by librarians it was easy to see on the Web that libraries are finding their way to support game activites for teenagers. Advertisment from a library was: Video games give kids a chance to practice reading, writing, and computing in the library’s safe environment. I would say for teen agers they will learn a language specially if their mother language is not English. Teenagers have to work hard to develop new strategies to come up to higher levels of the game beyond that they get models for navigating our information-rich world
More examples of libraries that are trying to attract teenagers Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich has adopted a new trend of adding video games to its traditional collections to lure teens. An important aspect is of cource to enjoy a game together with their friends and what could be a better place than the public library
